Abnormal Returns is one of the long-standing investment blogs, dating back to the Web 1.0, pre-Twitter days. Tadas Viskanta, blogger, author, and educator, has had broad exposure to investments and finance. In his own modest words, he “knows a little bit about a lot of things.” But it’s clear that what Tadas has is more than knowledge. He has experience working as a fundamentals as well as a quantitative investor. He has a balanced approach to investing, involving various asset classes.
Tadas keenly understands that the personality of the investor plays a role in their approach to investing, and he asserts that there is no substitute for experience. Sure, you can read books, watch videos, and take courses, but when there is actual money behind the investment decisions, emotion comes into the equation — even if you’re taking a quant approach. So start small and do your due diligence…but start.
