As a young investor, Meb made the worst trade of his life with his own money. And it hurt. Not wanting to burn himself again with cognitive biases and emotional decisions, he was drawn to rules-based, or quant, investing. He eventually founded Cambria Investment Management which seeks to invest and protect wealth by following nonemotional, calculated, rules-based methods. Literally putting his money where his mouth is, 100% of Meb’s net worth is in Cambria’s funds and strategies today.
In my conversation with Meb, you’ll hear an overview of quant investing. We also discuss common cognitive biases that are easy for investors to fall into, especially the home-country bias. And Meb shares where to look for inexpensive and growing markets.
In today’s episode you’ll learn:
- About Meb’s background and what drew him to rules-based investing
- About quant investing
- Why home-country bias is so prevalent
- About Cambria
- About Meb’s books and upcoming white papers
